Application in the spotlight: Polyurethane

Body

Polyurethane, also known as PUR or PU, is a polymer composed of organic units joined by carbamate (urethane) links. We put the spotlight on PU, as PU is produced by many Castor International customers for the construction, automotive, furniture, clothing and domestic appliances industries.

There are 3 main types of polyurethanes:

  • Rigid Polyurethane Foam – primarily used as insolation
  • Flexible polyurethane foam - used as cushioning for bedding, furniture and automotive interiors
  • Solid polyurethane – for coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers

PU raw materials

As the PU industry is a big market for Castor International, we also provide a large scope of required raw materials. For example: polyols (mainly based on Castor oil, but also other types), chain extenders, crosslinkers, fillers, moisture scavengers, thickeners, hardeners, catalyst, flame retardants and more.

If you would like to know more about polyurethane applications or raw materials, please contact the Castor International team. We are happy to tell you more.
