Entering 2026 with focus and intent: Castor International’s priorities for the year ahead
As 2026 begins, the landscape for global trade in specialty chemicals and oleochemicals is becoming more demanding. Regulatory frameworks such as the postponed European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) are raising expectations for transparency, documentation and sustainable sourcing.
At Castor International, we view these changes as a chance to strengthen our position. By focusing on internal knowledge, external compliance and global partnerships, we are preparing to support our customers with clarity, accuracy and care.
This year, we are building on three core priorities to guide our work.
1. Strengthening knowledge through internal training
We have invested in targeted training to deepen our sustainability expertise in areas that matter most:
- oleochemistry, the foundation of many of our product lines based on plant-derived oils
- life Cycle Assessment (LCA), a methodology used to assess the environmental impact of products from raw material to disposal
- ECI (Environmental Cost Indicator), the environmental cost indicator used to quantify and compare the sustainability of materials
This knowledge will help us respond to customer requests more effectively. It also improves our ability to track and communicate environmental impact throughout the supply chain, from sourcing to final application.
2. Preparing for evolving compliance and certification
Compliance continues to evolve. The introduction of EUDR highlights the need for traceable, deforestation-free sourcing. This is particularly relevant to products such as Cetyl alcohol and Stearyl alcohol.
We are proactively adjusting our processes by:
- Mapping and documenting our supply chains more precisely
- Working closely with suppliers to ensure full transparency
- Preparing for SKAL certification, which will allow us to supply materials that meet EU organic standards
These steps ensure that our customers can rely on verified, compliant sourcing when regulations require it most.
3. Strategic partnerships
Strong collaboration between sourcing, logistics and product development remains essential. In 2026, we are continuing to focus on close coordination across these functions. The result is a supply chain that is more flexible, transparent and resilient.
In February, part of our team will travel to India for our annual visit to local partners and producers. This trip brings us closer to the origin and strengthens long-term relationships with the people behind the raw materials we supply every day.
It is an opportunity to align, share knowledge and explore new developments together.
Looking ahead
2026 will be a year of rising expectations. At Castor International, we are committed to meeting those expectations with clarity, expertise and trust. From compliance and certification to partnerships and product innovation, we are focused on building a stronger foundation for the future.
We look forward to working closely with our customers and suppliers throughout the year.
