Castor Market Report February 2023

The new harvest has started but the new arrivals are currently behind expectations. There was a cold spell in India with temperatures partly below 5°C. This delayed the maturing of seeds at the Castor plants. In some parts of Rajasthan temperatures were even close to 0°C or below, so that in those areas there is a damage a of the crop. For the plant it does normally not matter if it is cold at night and warm during day time but frost is damaging the plant. The frost was only in some smaller areas so the effect on the total crop will be low. There were also some rainfalls in January which lead to further delay for the harvest...
