Castor Market Report July 2026

The monsoon in India has started about 4 weeks ago, but is/was so far delayed in many parts of the country. It is covering about 60% of India but is normally already covering more than 80% of the country in regular years. In Gujarat only the southeast has received so far first rainfalls. The rainfalls are delayed by about 10 days. There are still 14 weeks to go until the monsoon normally disappears in India. 

Farmers are nervous this year. First the issue at the Strait of Hormuz bringing a shortage and higher costs for fertilizers – this was buffered by National stocks of fertilizers released by the government. Also higher fuel prices (and shortage in availability) play an important role. And now in addition a late monsoon.
